UTAH - INTERMEDIATE CAMPING

Are you trying to have a Grand old time this spring break? Are you hoping to see some gorgeous views of some of the most scenic parts of the country?? Well, look no further!! Your fearless leaders Risky River, Daring Dylan, Lively Leanna, and Groovy Grace are embarking on an 8-day road trip starting Saturday (3/23) through California, Utah, and Arizona to visit some of the coolest national parks in the world! We will be spending two days hiking in Zion National Park home to the famous Angel’s Landing trail. There, we’ll all be channeling our inner Indiana Jones with an epic guided rappelling tour through slot canyons! Next, we will stop to explore Capitol Reef National Park, where we’ll see some breathtaking landscapes. Then, we’ll travel through the enchanted rock forest in Goblin Valley. Later, we’ll ride the saddle to horseshoe bend, ending our day at the Grand Canyon to take in some breathtaking stars. On the road trip back to campus, we’ll see the famous trees at Joshua Tree National Park and then return to campus in the early evening on Saturday (3/30). This is a great intermediate trip with some moderately difficult hikes but the views, people, and memories will make it all worth it! This trip is application-based, so please fill out the application below. The approximate cost will be around $350 which includes food, gas, camping, the guided tour, and everything else! What a steal of a deal! If you have any questions, reach out to Dylan (dbear@scu.edu), River (rkisler@scu.edu), Leanna, (ljcameron@scu.edu), or Grace (gfalci@scu.edu). We look forward to hearing from you!!!

LOST COAST - INTERMEDIATE BACKPACKING

GET LOST!! Not really… but kind of. Did we get your attention??? We know you want to spend your spring break dancing down the beach and singing with the seals along the California coast for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go beachside backpacking! Join leaders Driftwood Daniel, Coastal Catie, and Jellyfish Julia on one of the only coastal wilderness hiking experiences in the United States… The Lost Coast Trail! On this trip, we will be hiking on the beach, over the bluffs, and through the tides. We’re doing the Lost Coast Trail from Mattole to Black Sands Beach, covering 25 miles and 1,604 feet of elevation gain over 4 days. Before our backpacking sesh we will also be exploring the local area by doing a guided ocean kayak tour, a hike in Fern Canyon, frolicking on the beach together, and doing a sick-suspended bridge hike. We’re going to have a whale of a time as we will be able to spot some amazing wildlife both on the trail and in the water on our kayaking trip. A bucket lister for many, this trail is “so rugged that roads have not conquered it.” This is a terrific trip for folks with previous hiking and backpacking experience who feel comfortable being in the rain (coastal spring weather is unpredictable, and we can only hope for the best)! It will also require walking on football-sized rocks on the beach for part of the trail, which can be challenging! The entirety of the trip expense, including food, gas, kayak rentals, and all permit fees, will be included in the ticket price, which will be around $387 We’ll leave campus on March 23rd and return on March 29th. Due to its moderate difficulty and length, this trip is application-based. Hit us up with any Q’s! Julia: jrouth@scu.edu, Daniel: dlouie@scu.edu, Catie: cepstein@scu.edu

SO CAL - SURFING

Have you ever wanted to surf all the way down the coast of California!?! If that sounds like an absolutely sick time, then this surf trip along some of the most beautiful coastlines in the world would be perfect for you!!! After all, who is stopping you from tearing it up all spring break?!? Certainly not your brave leaders Flounder Francis and Sea Anemone Sander who are absolutely stoked to go with you!! We will begin our trip by traveling to Morro Bay near San Luis Obispo on Saturday morning (March 23). We will make our way to Ventura County, San Onofre, and then down to Carlsbad near San Diego for a few nights. After shredding every day and exploring the areas with some hikes in between, we will head back up the coast to Pismo Beach to surf again and then back to Santa Clara. We’ll be back by Saturday, March 30th in the afternoon. To go on this trip, you MUST have significant surf experience, know surf etiquette, and be comfortable in the ocean. We have some wetsuits and a few waterlogged wavestorms for rental on this trip but we will prioritize those with their own board and wetsuit. Tickets will be around $300. If you have any questions or concerns don’t hesitate to reach out to Francis fbrooke@scu.edu or Sander smoog@scu.edu.
