Week 5 Sequoia Snow Camping


Yo yo yo Wildlings!! Have you ever wanted to learn winter survival skills!? Then you’re in luck because we have just the trip for you! Join Winter Willy and Jacket Julia to put your wilderness skills to the test for an ADVANCED snowshoe backpacking trip to Sequoia National Park. We will be joining philosophy professor and former semi-professional snowboard mountaineer Dr. Steele for a challenging yet stunning 5.5-mile hike with 2,500 ft of elevation gain through the snowy mountains to Emerald Lake, offering 360-degree views of glacial valleys and rugged peaks! There, Dr. Steele will teach us some snow camping skills, such as building shelters and using snow saws and shovels!! We will leave campus at 5:00 am on Saturday, 5/2, and return by 4:00 pm on Sunday, 5/3. Please complete the application below to apply for the trip, as it is advanced. Previous backpacking experience and great physical fitness are required. The trip cost $55.
